Demographics and insurance drive investment in urgent care centers

A recent Wall Street Journal article describes the surge in urgent care, with hospital chains, insurance companies and health systems driving the investment in this space. Although estimates of the number of centers in the U.S. are as high as 10,000, demand for high-quality, noncritical care is fueling further growth. Forecasts only show an increase in number of centers as the population ages and more people get access to health insurance.
