Medscape Emergency Medicine Physician Compensation Report 2016

Emergency medicine (EM) physicians had a 5 percent increase in income this year, about in the middle among all physicians. When asked about their compensation for patient care, EM physicians were about in the middle ($322,000). They ranked slightly higher in last year's compensation report, even though their earnings were lower then ($306,000). When asked what they attributed their increases to, most EM physicians responded that they were working more hours. Many had experienced an increase in patient volume. Others simply received raises or changed jobs or positions.
